Soda ash, CAS No.: 497-19-8, has the chemical formula Na2CO3. Under normal circumstances, it is a white powder, a strong electrolyte, with a density of 2.532 g/cm³, a melting point of 851°C, and is soluble in water and glycerol, slightly soluble in anhydrous ethanol, and hardly soluble in propanol. It shares the properties of salts and belongs to inorganic salts. In humid air, it absorbs moisture and forms lumps, and some of it turns into sodium bicarbonate.
As an important inorganic chemical raw material, it is mainly used in the production of flat glass, glass products, and ceramic glazes. It is also widely used in daily cleaning, neutralizing acids, and food processing, etc.
