Zinc oxide, CAS No.: 1314-13-2, is an inorganic compound with the chemical formula ZnO. Its molecular weight is 81.39 g/mol. It is a white solid and is a form of zinc oxide. Zinc oxide is insoluble in water and ethanol, but soluble in acids, sodium hydroxide aqueous solution, and ammonium chloride.
Usage: It is a commonly used chemical additive and is widely used in the production of plastics, silicate products, synthetic rubber, lubricants, paints and coatings, ointments, adhesives, food, batteries, flame retardants, etc. The band gap and exciton binding energy of zinc oxide are large, it has high transparency, and has excellent luminescence performance at room temperature. It is applied in products such as liquid crystal displays, thin film transistors, and light-emitting diodes in the semiconductor field. Zinc oxide is also an important sunscreen agent because it can absorb ultraviolet radiation. Moreover, micro-particles of zinc oxide, as a nanomaterial, are also applied in related fields.
