Potassium hydroxide is also known as "caustic potash", with CAS No.: 1310-58-3 and chemical formula KOH. It is a common strong alkaline inorganic compound, usually in the form of white tablets. It is highly soluble in water and ethanol, and during the dissolution process, it releases a large amount of heat, and easily absorbs moisture and carbon dioxide from the air.
It is used as an analytical reagent and is employed in various chemical industries such as soap making, papermaking, textile, dyeing, pharmaceuticals, electroplating, etc., as well as in organic synthesis.
